a little western.
people book del mar for the water. then they end up in the grass with a barn behind them and dust in the light, and that is the picture they keep. this stretch of san diego does both — racetrack and ranch, bluff and dirt road — and we shoot whichever version of the day you actually want.
a western-looking engagement out here is not a costume. cowboy hats, boots, a white dress in dry gold grass at the last hour of sun. we let the place look like itself instead of fighting it into a beach preset.
the ranch
red barn, dusty path, a field that has already gone gold. late sun sits low and hard. we shoot into it on purpose — hats throw a little shade, the grass lights up, and nobody has to fake a pose.
the fairgrounds
this town was built around a track. if your day lives at the fairgrounds, the polo fields, or a ranch inland toward rancho santa fe, we already know the drive and the light.
the coast
the bluffs are still here if you want them. powerhouse, the village, a walk after the portraits. del mar does not make you pick a personality. we just need to know which hour belongs to which one.

- Do you charge travel for a Del Mar wedding?
- No. Santa Barbara to San Diego is home base, and Del Mar sits in that range. No travel fees in SoCal.
- We want a western-looking shoot — hats, a ranch, not the beach.
- That is a Del Mar day we already know. The inland grass and barns photograph differently than the bluffs. We time it to the last light, not a generic golden-hour block.
- Can we do ranch portraits and still make it to a coastal venue?
- Yes. The geography is short if you plan it. We build the timeline so you are not changing boots in a parking lot with ten minutes to spare.
- We're in Solana Beach, Rancho Santa Fe, Encinitas — not Del Mar proper.
- Same stretch of north county. If it is this side of the hills, we already know the drive.
